The colours in this vintage butterfly brooch by David Andersen are so vivid making it a brooch that will certainly be admired from near or far.
Made in sterling silver in the 1930's, the butterfly measures 54.5mm across by 30.3mm and will no doubt always look amazing on any outfit that it is worn on. Being one the larger sizes that the company produce, this size will make it stand out no matter the time of day or night and the enamel is still in superb condition and feels so smooth and tactile to the touch.
With such incredible colours, this brooch exemplifies just why David Andersen pieces are so highly regarded the world over.

Vintage enamel butterfly brooch by David Andersen
A brief history on David Andersen:
David Andersen founded his company in Oslo (formerly Christiania) in 1876. David Andersen was an accomplished gold and silversmith who achieved great fame early on in his career thanks to his high standard of quality and influential designs in his jewellery. Twelve years after opening, he expanded his workshop and in 1892 opened a second store.
After his death in 1901, his son Arthur took over and instigated the hyphen between the name David and Andersen. He also introduced enamelling into the jewellery which was so success it has now become synonymous with David Andersen jewellery.
