Here is a watch that will always be such a talking point – an original vintage Gruen Curvex drivers watch made in 1937.
Designed to be worn on the side of the wrist rather than on the top, the reason behind this was quite simple. When you are driving your car and need to see the time, with your hands still on the wheel, you don’t need to rotate your wrist to see the time. This gives such a nostalgic and reminiscent image of a lovely 1950’s sportscar making its way along a winding road along the coast with you at the wheel and the watch on your wrist.
Made in a gold filled case that measures 49mm in length by 21.5mm across plus the crown, the wonderful elongated case with its substantial curve to sit on the side of the wrist makes this such an incredible watch to admire. The elegant tonneau shaped case is so characteristic of the Art Deco period when this watch was made as is the dial with its elegant numerals.
Powering the watch inside is a Swiss made 17 jewelled manual wind calibre 330 that has been serviced, runs beautifully and comes with our twelve month warranty.
Able to be worn where a traditional watch is worn, or better still on the side of the wrist, this is such a fabulous watch that will continue to be such an amazing conversation starter.
