Since the company started in 1833 and in their own way Jaeger LeCoultre have quietly but constantly always produced and maintained such high precision clocks, pocket watches and of course wrist watches that they still are up there with the best of the best watch companies in the world.
Not only have they patented and created so many unique pieces such as the Atmos clock and Futurematic watch, they also created the iconic Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox such as what we have here.
Launched to the world in 1950, it has remained one of Jaeger LeCoultre's most famous watches and loved by collectors and novices alike thanks in part to its classic styling and added function of having an alarm feature.
Such as can be seen on this Jaeger LeCoultre HPG, the alarm is set by winding the crown near the 2 o'clock position and pulling the crown out and rotating the inner triangular marker to the desired time.
As mentioned, this is the Jaeger LeCoultre HPG dating from 1970 which was released to the US market with the HPG meaning "High Precision Guarantee". Powered by Jaeger LeCoultre's brilliant automatic calibre 916, this is also referred to as the "Speedbeat" movement as it featured a 28,800 A/h oscillation for greater accuracy.
With the date function the dial of the watch is all original and in superb condition and still so easy to read day or night.
Measuring 36.5mm across plus the two crowns, this is such a handsome and comfortable watch to wear all the time and a real classic watch from one of the best Swiss watchmaking firms the world has ever seen.
