Antique jewellery is often steeped in history and romance, and here this ring in its own subtle way displays both. This antique ring is what is affectionately called a "Toi et Moi" ring, whose history goes back to Josephine and Napoleon Bonaparte. The term “Toi et Moi” is French for “You and Me” and is used for a ring with two main stones and this is believed to have started when Napoleon gave Josephine a sapphire and diamond engagement ring in 1776. Since then, this has become a wonderfully romantic design for jewellery that displays love between two people in a gorgeous design that will always be admired. This ring was handmade in 18 carat yellow gold in the early 1900's, on one side is a beautiful pure white pearl sitting opposite a European cut diamond measuring 0.42 carats. Claw set to allow the maximum amount of light to enter and dance through the stone, sitting opposite each other, the pearl and diamond truly compliment each other so well. Then on each band the ring is set with five single cut diamonds that total 0.10 carats and emphasise the beautiful soft curve to the band. Measuring 9.1mm wide at the centre by 14.8mm across from one end diamond over to the other, this antique ring is as beautiful as it is romantic. Stock# ES9771 Circa: 1900 $5,300

This ring was made during the Victorian period in the 1870's and not only looks so beautiful from the top, but it also has a locket compartment on the reverse side. Made in 18 carat yellow gold, the design is beautiful with a traditional cluster of pearls surrounding a rose cut diamond in the centre. And looking close, the setting around the diamond is so charming as it is set into a gorgeous star design. On each side are three more pearls that are set among beautiful hand engraved shoulders that add that extra element of charm and character to the ring. Turning the ring over reveals a sweet and charming aspect of the ring - a locket compartment for hair or even a very small photo. This makes this ring so much more charming and romantic than so many massed produced rings and this ring showcases why antique jewellery is not only so beautiful but so romantic as well. Measuring 9.7mm wide at the centre, this is a lovely example of a genuine Victorian era ring that will always look perfect on the hand. Stock# U205 Circa: 1870 $Sold.
