Dating from the 1920's, this ring exemplifies everything about the Art Deco period from exquisite styling, sparkle from the diamonds and being made in platinum.
Only hand making this ring in platinum could all of this fine detail be achieved as platinum has the wonderful ability to be drawn into a fine wire and worked in the way that can be seen in this ring yet still be strong enough to support the sapphires and diamonds and the ring as a whole.
There are two main early brilliant cut diamonds that total 1.08 carats and have a wonderful sparkle to them that are highlighted by twenty two more diamonds that total 0.52 carats.
And then there are the ten sapphires that highlight both the diamonds and the design of the ring so well and really stand out so beautifully against the pure white of the platinum. Art Deco untreated sapphire and diamond ring
Here is such an elegant Art Deco untreated sapphire and diamond ring that was made in France in the 1920's that looks spectacular on any finger and would make such an impressive engagement ring.
Sapphires and rubies have been heat treated for centuries to improve their colour and clarity and this is a world wide accepted practice, however it is estimated that only between 1% and 5% of sapphires are good enough to be set into jewellery without being treated. It should be clarified that a sapphire or ruby that has undergone some form of heat treatment is still a natural gemstone from the ground and is not a synthetic/man made stone and the treatment is completely stable. Lately on the market there is a technique of glass filling or lead filling stones which will improve the colour of a natural gemstone, however this treatment is very unstable and the stone may look worse in a few years.
The sapphire measures 1.90 carats and the way the ring has been hand made in 18ct gold and platinum shows the detail and thought that went into making this ring by allowing the sapphire to be set into its own bezel and having a fine separation from the border of diamonds.
There are a total of twenty two rose cut diamonds that accentuate the sapphire so well, and these diamonds total 0.22 carats and the top of this ring measures 10.9mm across by 14mm and sits perfectly on the finger.
Art Deco rings are always so sought after as are untreated sapphires and when the two are put together the result is a ring that is just so stunning and unique.
