The setting of these diamonds is so incredibly beautiful, and are the perfect setting to highlight the gorgeous antique European cut diamonds set into them.
Hand made in the 1920’s in 15 carat gold and platinum, each earring measures 29mm in length and will look stunning night or day, where they will no doubt always get the admiration that they rightly deserve.
The diamonds total 1.13 carats and have the most magnificent sparkle to them that captures the light so well.
Measuring 29mm in length, the earrings are fitted on new 15 carat shepherd hooks that we made by making the gold carat and colour to match the setting as the original fittings were too worn, giving these earrings a new life and so easily able to be worn all the time.
These earrings also came in with the matching and just as magnificent diamond bracelet which can be viewed here:

What is a European cut diamond?
During the mid 19th century, the old European cut came into focus. This was an attempt to change the old mine cut stones into a more perfect round cut. These stones can be considered as the first true round brilliant cut diamonds. The facets from the old miners were kept in their same position, but changed shape to a more round and evenly shaped stone.
The culets became smaller, as it was realised that light could leak out from this point in the stone. The development of the modern brilliant cut occurred in the early part of the 20thcentury, with further modifications through the century. Diamond cutters apply the brilliant cut to other shapes, and this very exacting skill continues to enthrall craftsman and enthusiasts alike.
