Today engraving is commonly done with electric drills or quite often a design is simply stamped onto a ring, whereas this antique buckle ring has the most exceptional hand engraving all the way around that is not only truly spectacular to admire, but it also has such a wonderful tactile feel to it.
Made in 18 carat yellow gold in Birmingham in 1908, the buckle design was very popular in the late Victorian era as well as the Edwardian era when this ring was made.
Measuring 10.5mm wide at the buckle section to 6.9mm wide at the back, it is incredible to admire the astonishing detail in this ring which would of course taken an immense amount of time to engrave by hand.
With a lovely solid heft to it, this antique ring is as incredible to admire as when it was made well over 100 years ago.
