Antique Scottish agate brooch
$1,550.00
Queen Victoria was so influential in so many ways including fashion and jewellery, and as she was proud of her her Stuart ancestry, she made Scottish agate jewellery, also known as “pebble jewellery” so fashionable and sought after, and here is a truly magnificent example dating from the 1890’s.
Made in sterling silver, this wonderful brooch is set with agates that have those wonderful earthy, natural colours and tones that stand out perfectly against the sterling silver.
Highlighted with purple and orange paste at the end of the thistle designs, in the centre the additional work in silver is nothing short of incredible. With such an amazing naturalistic form to it, this is certainly one of the most amazing Scottish agate brooches around.
Measuring 54.2mm across by 34mm, the size of the brooch will certainly make it be admired from near or far, and combined with the fabulous colours added to it, will make it so easy to wear on a multitude of different coloured outfits and always look so elegant.
Even well after 130 years have passed since it was made, this is still such a wonderful and eye-catching brooch that will no doubt be worn with pride.
