Antique silver bangle highlighted with rose and green gold in original box

Here is a wonderfully exciting and incredibly beautiful antique bangle that was made in 1880 and is so exciting and lovely to wear.

Made in sterling silver, the silver itself has a very unique matte finish not often seen in antique bangles and on top of this, it has the most beautiful scene of a bird, storks and a lizard, with the sun shining brightly down. Not only are they hand engraved which in itself is so much more beautiful and unique than machine engraved, but the animals are highlighted in both rose and green gold.

Gold can be made in different colours by being alloyed with other metals, such as to produce rose gold, it is made by primarily adding more copper to the gold when being alloyed resulting in a lovely warm tone to it, and today although not very common, green gold is made by adding silver to the gold, however the green colour is more a soft green-yellow colour. However in the late 1800’s, cadmium was added resulting in a stronger colour, and while never a strong green such as yellow or white gold, the tone of green in antique pieces is more pronounced and is used perfectly here to highlight the leaves in the design.

The use of gold accentuates this bangle in such a magical way and will certainly make it a wonderful talking point. Measuring 39.2mm wide, the bangle even has a very soft curve to it, and being hinged allows it to sit lovely and close to the wrist.

Adding to its history, inside the bangle is a charming sentiment of “KME from NP Nov 29th 1880“, which adds to the charm and allure of an already very exciting bangle.

Amazingly it also comes complete with its original velvet lined box which is is so rare to find today, proving just how much this bangle was loved and looked after.
