Art Deco diamond pendant set with European and mine cut diamonds
This elegant Art Deco diamond pendant is set with a combination of European cut diamonds and the earlier mine cut diamonds. The mine cut diamond was the first true brilliant cut diamond as it was the first diamond to have fifty eight facets like the round brilliant cut diamond of today. First seen in the early 1700’s, the mine cut diamond was then followed by the European cut diamond which was invented in the 1850’s. Antique mine cut diamonds and antique European cut diamonds have become so popular in engagement rings today.
This Art Deco pendant was made in the 1920’s and was made in 18 carat white gold and platinum.
