‘Hairloom’ Exhibition Catalogue

Hairloom is an exhibition of sentimental jewels at Kalmar Antiques on display from September 2025. The exhibition will feature 24 jewellery items from The Kalmar Vault Collection, many of which have never been publicly displayed. The exhibition showcases a collection of jewellery pieces from the 18th to early 20th centuries which demonstrate the inclusion of hair in jewellery as objects of sincerity and personal identity. The collection includes mourning jewellery and items made as tokens of love and friendship. These items are examples of the significance that hair played in the role of tangible memory during the centuries which preceded the invention and widespread availability of photography.

The 92-page exhibition catalogue includes images and descriptions of all items displayed and three thematic essays. Copies of the exhibition catalogue are available in-store or can be shipped within Australia.
