Antique sapphire and natural pearl necklace

$4,250.00

Today pearls are produced by placing a bead inside the oyster that when left in the water for between 2 to 4 years, produces a pearl by the oyster covering the bead in nacre. While these are still of course considered pearls, in nature a pearl is produced when an irritant such as a grain of sand enters the oyster and the oyster then covers this irritant in nacre producing a natural pearl.

Not only is there the added charm of this pearl being produced naturally, but it is estimated that between 1 in 5,000 to 10,000 oysters will produce a single natural pearl.

So when you have not only a lovely antique necklace, but a necklace that has not one, but four natural pearls that are complimented by both the design and the sapphires, then the result is a truly fabulous necklace such as this one here.

Made in 15 carat gold in the early 1900’s, the necklace is set with the six blue sapphires and those lovely four natural pearls in such an attractive design. With a combination of the circular design around the sapphires, and the free flowing design around the pearls that showcases and highlights the natural shape of the pearls, this is one necklace that is destined to always be admired.

With the centre drop section measuring  3.5cm in length, from end to end the necklace measures 45cm, allowing the main section to sit perfectly around the neck.

Perfect for any occasion and event, this is such a wonderful and exciting antique necklace that will always be loved and admired.
