Spectacular unheat treated Ceylonese sapphire and mine cut diamond ring
For centuries people have known that if you put a sapphire or ruby into a fire it will improve its colour and clarity, and people have been heat treating sapphires and rubies ever since for this reason. This treatment is worldwide accepted as a normal treatment and not deceiving in any way and is accepted as a standard treatment for sapphires and rubies as it remains stable and does not damage the stone. However the sapphire in this ring is a very beautiful unheat treated Ceylonese sapphire that has the most incredible and intense colour that looks spectacular.
Measuring an impressive 3.59 carats, this sapphire has been certified as having no treatment and being Ceylonese. Ceylonese sapphires have been regarded as home of some of the finest sapphires in the world, and the colour in this sapphire truly exemplifies this. With such a magnificent royal blue colour, it is highlighted by a mine cut diamond on each side.
These diamonds total 1.88 carats, and compliment the sapphire so well. With all the charm and character of being one of the earliest cuts of diamonds, this is certainly one ring that will always stand out and be admired every time it is worn.
Made in 18 carat yellow gold, the ring measures 19.5mm across by 12.2mm and dates from the Victorian era of the 1890's, this ring is truly spectacular.

Antique sapphire and diamond lozenge shaped ring dating from the 1890’s
"The attention is in the detail" is often said, but rarely fully understood and with so many antique pieces this is often the case as can be seen here in this late Victorian era ring dating from the 1890's.
Hand made in 18 carat yellow gold, it is not just simply a gorgeous lozenge shape with diamonds surrounding sapphires, but it is set with sixteen European cut diamonds that actually graduate so elegantly in size, rather than all being the same size. The diamonds come together to total 0.64 carats, and likewise the sapphires themselves also graduate in size, to total 0.58 carats, and all displaying such a fine blue colour to them.
When looking at it the ring again with this in mind, it is so logical to do this to the ring to accentuate the points at each end with the smaller diamonds and sapphires and larger ones in the centre.
Measuring 20mm by 9.1mm across, this also leads to the elegant triple design band.
This is such an exciting ring that is so elegant and refined, and so unique and special.
