Antique sapphire and diamond lozenge shaped ring dating from the 1890’s
“The attention is in the detail” is often said, but rarely fully understood and with so many antique pieces this is often the case as can be seen here in this late Victorian era ring dating from the 1890’s.
Hand made in 18 carat yellow gold, it is not just simply a gorgeous lozenge shape with diamonds surrounding sapphires, but it is set with sixteen European cut diamonds that actually graduate so elegantly in size, rather than all being the same size. The diamonds come together to total 0.64 carats, and likewise the sapphires themselves also graduate in size, to total 0.58 carats, and all displaying such a fine blue colour to them.
When looking at it the ring again with this in mind, it is so logical to do this to the ring to accentuate the points at each end with the smaller diamonds and sapphires and larger ones in the centre.
Measuring 20mm by 9.1mm across, this also leads to the elegant triple design band.
This is such an exciting ring that is so elegant and refined, and so unique and special.
