Diamond engagement ring in platinum and our own 16 carat gold
It is one thing to design a ring on a computer with the help of a CAD program and have a ring cast in gold, it is another to have a ring that has been entirely made by hand in not only an antique style, but also using techniques used years ago as well as being made in a very unique colour and carat of gold. Made in platinum at the top, the rest is made in our own 16 carat gold. The story of how we came about our own 16 carat gold is published here and well worth a read: https://kalmarantiques.com.au/articles/our-own-16-carat-rose-gold/Â The colour of this 16 carat gold has such a wonderful warm tone to it that looks amazing on the skin and combine this with genuine antique diamonds set into the ring in a handmade setting, and you have a diamond engagement ring like no other. Sitting proud in the centre is a gorgeous antique mine cut diamond which measures 0.51 carats and is H in colour and Si in clarity, meaning that it faces up lovely and white and has no inclusions that you can see with the naked eye. The mine cut diamond was first cut in the early 1700's and has become so popular in recent years that modern diamond workshops in Antwerp and India have started to cut diamonds once again in this cut, however nothing beats a genuine antique diamond. Then set on each side are three single cut diamonds that have been set in such a beautiful setting with a millgrain finish. The attention to detail is just wonderful and makes this ring so exciting to look at from every angle. An engagement ring should be as unique as you and not one that is a mass produced clone, and this engagement ring is as unique and special as you. Stock# U161 $Sold
Antique style diamond engagement ring set with a European cut diamond
Here is a spectacular modern diamond engagement ring that is not only set with genuine antique diamonds, hand made using techniques and styles of yesteryear, but is also made in not only platinum, but our very own 18 carat yellowrose gold. Gold can be made into a combination of carats and colour by adding other alloys into the gold when molten. For example, adding more or less copper will make the gold a rose or pink colour, silver among other white alloys can produce white gold, and then there is 75% gold in the allow it is 18 carat gold and when 37.5% gold, it is 9 carat gold. Knowing all of this, our Master Jeweller who painstakingly hand made this ring created our own 18 carat Kalmar yellowrose gold that has the most magnificent and incredible soft yellow to rose colour that looks amazing on the skin and has such an incredible warm tone to it. Sitting proud in the centre is a fabulous old European cut diamond that measures an impressive 1.78 carats. European cut diamonds have increased so much in popularity in recent years, so much so that they are being cut today in the modern diamond workshops of Antwerp and India, however nothing beats a genuine antique cut diamond such as this one here. It is K in colour and VS in clarity and before you think that the diamond is tinted, you really have to see this ring as it will certainly change your opinion as set into the yellowrose and platinum, this diamond faces up so lovely and much whiter that you would think. Set on each side are three single cut diamonds that come together to total 0.18 carats and these earlier cut diamonds were used in this ring in keeping with the antique design. With the most wonderful scroll work on the sides, this is a truly exceptional and very unique diamond management ring like no other. This ring is just one example of what we can create using diamonds as well as techniques from a bygone era, so please feel free to speak to us to see what we could also create for you. Platinum engagement ring set with a 3.21 carat mine cut diamond
Here is a truly exceptional diamond engagement ring that was hand made by our Master Jeweller entirely in platinum and in a design and style of yesteryear. Set with a magnificent genuine antique mine cut diamond, in recent years the earlier mine cut and European cut diamonds have become so popular, that even modern diamond cutting houses in Antwerp and India have started to cut diamonds in these shapes, however nothing beats a genuine antique cut diamond that was cut by hand over 150 years ago. This mine cut diamond, or "cushion cut" diamond as they are also known as, measures an impressive 3.21 carats and sparkle magnificently. It is K in colour and VS2 in clarity, and before you think that the diamond is low in colour, take a look at it on your finger and be amazed at how bright it faces up. Combine this with a beautiful clarity and you have a very impressive genuine antique mine cut diamond to wear with pride. The way the double claws on each corner of the diamond hold it securely, gives the impression of it being raised up high for all to see and to truly show off not only the beauty of the diamond, but the quality and attention to detail that went into making this ring. And then not only on the shoulders, but the other sides as well, there are a total of sixteen single cut diamonds that come together to total 0.30 carats. We chose to use single cut diamonds as if this was an Art Deco ring, this is the cut of diamond that would have been used. Like the ring being entirely handmade instead of cast or CAD made on a computer, using these earlier cuts of diamonds is not only in keeping in style of the ring, but also highlights the gorgeous mine cut diamond in the centre by all being a true reproduction. All of this showcases the fine craftsmanship of our Master Jeweller, using the same skills that made Art Deco jewellery so desirable. With the additional diamonds then being millgrain set which can be seen as the elegant crimping along the edge of the setting, the detail alone in this ring is truly superb with everything coming together in perfect harmony. From every angle and day or night, there is no doubt that this ring will always be loved, admired and cherished. This ring is just one example of what we can create using diamonds as well as techniques from a bygone era, so please feel free to speak to us to see what we could also create for you. Antique mine cut diamond engagement ring made in 1885
Here is a beautiful antique diamond engagement ring that was made 135 years ago, and looks as beautiful today as when it was made and is set with the beautiful mine cut diamonds. Mine cut diamonds were first cut at the start of the 18th century and were the first diamond to have fifty eight facets like today's modern round brilliant cut diamond. The mine cut diamond is also known as cushion cut diamonds and so-called as they are not perfectly round and resemble a cushion shape around the side. So full of charm and character combined with being cut entirely by hand, there is nothing quite like genuine antique mine cut diamonds. The diamonds total 1.07 carats, and the ring was hand made in 18 carat yellow gold and has the most elegant claw setting from the side which not only looks so beautiful but also allows the maximum amount of light to enter and dance through each of the diamonds. Measuring 5.5mm wide at the centre by 16mm across, this ring sits perfect on the finger and is such a delightful and charming example of a genuine antique diamond engagement ring.
