Jewellery made during the Art Deco period from the 1920's through to the 1940's often resulted in taking a traditional design and making it "modern" such as in this Art Deco sapphire and diamond ring made in the 1930's. Hand made in 18 carat yellow gold and platinum, instead of having one row of diamonds surrounding the sapphire in the centre, there are actually two clusters of diamonds - the inner cluster being set with five single cut diamonds and the outer row being set with twelve single cut diamonds. These diamonds come together to total 0.46 carats and the sapphire in the centre measures 0.16 carats. Sitting perfectly on the finger, the cluster section at the top measures 11.6mm by 10mm across and leads to the gorgeous tapered band. Made by the English jewellery company A.W Crosbee and Sons, this is a delightful and charming example of the beauty of Art Deco jewellery.
