Antique sapphire and diamond lozenge shaped ring dating from the 1890’s
"The attention is in the detail" is often said, but rarely fully understood and with so many antique pieces this is often the case as can be seen here in this late Victorian era ring dating from the 1890's.
Hand made in 18 carat yellow gold, it is not just simply a gorgeous lozenge shape with diamonds surrounding sapphires, but it is set with sixteen European cut diamonds that actually graduate so elegantly in size, rather than all being the same size. The diamonds come together to total 0.64 carats, and likewise the sapphires themselves also graduate in size, to total 0.58 carats, and all displaying such a fine blue colour to them.
When looking at it the ring again with this in mind, it is so logical to do this to the ring to accentuate the points at each end with the smaller diamonds and sapphires and larger ones in the centre.
Measuring 20mm by 9.1mm across, this also leads to the elegant triple design band.
This is such an exciting ring that is so elegant and refined, and so unique and special.

Art Deco sapphire and diamond ring made in platinum in the 1920’s
The detail in this ring is just exquisite and highlights the quality of jewellery that was made during the Art Deco period.
Hand made in platinum in the 1920's, platinum is such a fantastic pure white precious metal that can be drawn into such a fine wire to allow such incredible detail as can be seen in this ring. The time needed to make this ring would have been immense and all of this work is then highlighted with the combination of sapphires and diamonds.
The four sapphires contrast beautifully against the pure white of the platinum and total 0.48 carats and then there are ten European cut diamonds that total 0.60 carats and sparkle beautifully. The setting at the top has a millgrain finish which is the elegant and fine crimping along the edges that adds an extra element to the ring as does the charming hand engraving on the band.
With incredible work able to be seen from under the ring, the top of the ring measures 16.7mm by 16.7mm and sits lovely and flat on the finger where it will no doubt always be loved and admired.
From every angle that you view this ring, there will always be something special and magical to see.

Art Deco sapphire and diamond ring made in the 1930’s
Jewellery made during the Art Deco period from the 1920's through to the 1940's often resulted in taking a traditional design and making it "modern" such as in this Art Deco sapphire and diamond ring made in the 1930's.
Hand made in 18 carat yellow gold and platinum, instead of having one row of diamonds surrounding the sapphire in the centre, there are actually two clusters of diamonds - the inner cluster being set with five single cut diamonds and the outer row being set with twelve single cut diamonds. These diamonds come together to total 0.46 carats and the sapphire in the centre measures 0.16 carats.
Sitting perfectly on the finger, the cluster section at the top measures 11.6mm by 10mm across and leads to the gorgeous tapered band.
Made by the English jewellery company A.W Crosbee and Sons, this is a delightful and charming example of the beauty of Art Deco jewellery.
