Antique engraved bracelet

$3,950.00

This bracelet dates from the early 1900's and is not only in wonderful condition but is the perfect piece to wear at any time of the day or night.

Made in 9 carat rose gold, the lovely warm colour of the gold looks so beautiful on the wrist, and the design of having links on one side having an engraved design is what is called a "night and day" bracelet, as this refers to being able to be worn with for example the plain side up during the day, then reverse it for the night. However due to the lovely engraved design, these are most commonly worn with the engraved side showing all the time for all to admire.

Each link measures 1.2cm wide and the bracelet measures a full 20cm in length and is fitted with a lovely elegant heart shaped padlock that is fitted with a safety chain for added security.

This bracelet is perfect for any woman of any age and will always suit any outfit and occasion.

Description

Antique engraved bracelet

Antique engraved bracelet night and day design.

The night and day curb link bracelet was thought to have originated to wear the plain side during the day and the engraved side during the night. While this does have merit, it is more realistic that this was a design feature that was named so after its inception. Antique night and day bracelets were often made in rose gold. Rose gold is made by the addition of copper to the alloy, resulting in a lovely warm colour. In recent years rose gold has surged in popularity, and there is nothing quite the look of antique rose gold on your wrist.

What is rose gold?

Gold is alloyed with other metals to both harden and sometimes alter the colour of the gold. Whereas pure gold is very bright yellow in colour, it is also quite soft and malleable. This makes it unsuitable for jewellery as it will often break or split. Other metals are added such as copper and silver to make it harder. not only will this make the gold jewellery more durable, it will also alter the colour. The yellow colour may "soften" in its tone, or adding copper can make it more of a warm rose colour.
