Antique brooch and pendant set with amethysts and pearls

Here is a wonderful and versatile piece of antique Australian jewellery made by Willis & Sons in the early 1900’s.

Made in 9 carat gold, this very lovely star burst brooch is set with a combination of amethysts and seed pearls and measures 36.5mm across by 46.2mm from the bottom to the top of the bail for a chain to pass through.

However this bail can easily be removed and then becomes a brooch, allowing the wearer to choose how they would like to wear it depending on the occasion.

And then to make this piece more special, it is featured on page 39 of the “Australian Jewellers: Gold & Silversmiths, Makers & Marks, by Kenneth Cavill, Graham Cocks, and Jack Grace”.

Day or night, brooch or pendant, this is such a beautiful piece that will always be admired.
