Antique Georgian era emerald and diamond ring from the 1800’s
Here is a captivating antique Georgian era emerald and diamond ring from the 1800's that is stunning from every angle that you look at it, and made even more incredible when you consider that it is around 200 years old and still so beautiful and elegant.
Made in 18ct yellow gold, the emerald and diamonds are set in sterling silver as even as far back as then, it was realised that the yellow from the gold could artificially tint the diamonds yellow whereas silver being white would not and as platinum was not used in jewellery until the early 1900's around the same time that white gold would be invented, this is why silver was being used along side the gold.
The natural Colombian emerald has such a strong vibrant colour showing why Colombian emeralds have been regarded as the best in the world for centuries. Measuring 0.40 carats in weight, it is set on each side by a magnificent rose cut diamond in the incredibly rare and hard to find pear shape. These diamonds are just wonderful and total 0.60 carats and have the added charm of being entirely cut and facetted by hand, a wonderful and amazing feature that modern diamonds simply don't have.
Measuring 13.7mm across by 6mm wide at the emerald, the ring then leads to that fantastic band that from every angle is just gorgeous and shows how much time went into making this ring all those years ago.
From whichever way you look at this ring, there is not part that you wont fall in love with and admire and appreciate it every time it is adorning your finger.
