15 carat gold antique collar made in the 1880's

Antique collars have been around since ancient Egypt, and here is a very beautiful and elegant antique collar that was made in the Victorian era of the 1880's.

Made in 15 carat gold, 15 carat gold was only used from 1854 until 1931 making it harder to find jewellery in this carat of gold that the other more common carats of gold such as 9, 14 and 18 carat. The colour of the gold has such a lovely warm yellow tone to it that looks even better when it is worn around the neck against the skin.

With beautiful detail on the links that each measure 5.4mm wide, at one end is a bolt ring which can be worn at the back of the neck or at the front as either a feature or to hang a locket or seal from.

Measuring 48cm in length, this is the perfect length to sit across the neckline where it will always be admired for its elegance and grace each and every time that it is worn.
