1979 diamond dial Rolex President

The Rolex Day-Date President has cemented itself as one of the world's most iconic watches, and here is a fantastic vintage Rolex President 18038 from 1979 and fitted with the traditional champagne dial set with diamonds.

The 18 carat yellow gold case measures 36mm across plus the Rolex screw down crown, and is fitted on a Hirsch crocodile band with a Rolex buckle. The look of this watch with the diamonds truly elevates it to a whole new level, and having it toned down with the leather band will make it easy to wear during the day without being over the top, as well as looking superb in the evening. This dial is destined to always get the attention that it rightly deserves each time that it is worn.

Powered by the 27 jewelled automatic Rolex calibre 3055 that has just come back from a complete service by our own in-house watchmaker who used to work for Rolex until coming to us, it runs perfect and comes with our twelve month warranty.

This is one of the nicest vintage Rolex Day-Date watches around, and one that will always look superb on the wrist.

What is the Rolex President?

Since its release in 1956, the Rolex Day Date "President" has always remained a sought after Rolex model. The Rolex Day Date became one to represent success and accomplishment as it was worn by some very influential people. Becoming known as the Presidents watch as several US presidents wore one. These included US Presidents such as Dwight Eisenhower, John F Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon. The Rolex Day Date has also been worn by Winston Churchill. Initially the term "President" referred to the type of bracelet attached to the Day Date, however it soon came to commonly refer to the entire timepiece. The Rolex Day Date 1803 was introduced in 1961 and over the years has undergone some changes. Most notably with the movement, and until recently a now larger watch case.

Where can I service my Rolex watch in Sydney?

Kalmar Antiques now employ a Rolex trained watchmaker on site!

When we expanded and renovated our store in late 2022, we put in not only a full watchmaking and polishing workshop, but a watchmaker who used to work for Rolex for nearly seven years. This allows us to be able to service your Rolex to Rolex standards, as well as other watch brands such as Omega, Cartier and Patek Philippe to name a few.

How often should I service my Rolex?

We recommend to service your Rolex every five years. If you wear the watch in water, we strongly suggest having your Rolex watch, or any watch for that matter, pressure tested once a year.
