1983 Rolex Datejust 16013

Here is one of the most classic and stylish Rolex watches - the 36mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust reference 16013 made in 18 carat yellow gold and stainless steel.

With the iconic champagne coloured dial, this is one watch that will look perfect both during the day as well as for any special function in the evening. Fitted with the 18 carat gold bezel that compliments the dial so well, it is so easy to see why this watch has remained so popular over the years.

Fitted on the 18 carat yellow gold and stainless steel Rolex Jubilee band, the watch is powered by the 27 jewelled automatic Rolex calibre 3035 that has just been completely serviced by our own in-house watchmaker who used to work for Rolex until coming to us, and now runs perfect and comes with our twelve month warranty.

This is a true classic from Rolex that will always look so good on the wrist now and well into the future.

A brief history on the Rolex automatic calibre 3035

Rolex released their calibre 3035 in 1977 as the movement to take over from their esteemed calibre 1570. This meant that it not just had to be better, it had to make people realise that this was such a leap forward in watch movements which it was of course.

To begin with, it was Rolex's first gents watch to have a high beat movement. By increasing the balance speed from 19,800bph to 28,800bph, this new movement now offered an even greater level of accuracy than the earlier model, which itself was so highly regarded.

This new speed of the 3035 causes the seconds hand to now "tick" eight times per second, giving Rolex their iconic smooth sweep that is so characteristic of Rolex watches today.

The Rolex 16013 models used the 27 jewelled Rolex calibre 3035 which had an upgraded power reserve of 50 hours and along with this increase in its power reserve and frequency, the Rolex calibre 3035 was also was the first automatic movement to feature a quickset function.
