Antique Rotherhams demi-hunter pocket watch
Rotherhams are one of the oldest English watch companies, going back to 1750, and here is a wonderful antique Rotherhams pocket watch that is still in superb condition even after being made well over 100 years ago.
Made in solid 18 carat yellow gold in 1901, this type of pocket watch case is called a demi-hunter, and has such a wonderful look to it. A demi-hunter, also known as a half hunter, is one that has a front lid with a circle cut out in the centre. The hour hand has a “double spade” that has two hour pointers, and the minute hand long, so when the case is closed, you can still read the time thanks to the Roman numerals on the outside of the case and be able to differentiate between the hour and minute hands.
The pocket watch case measures 48.5mm across plus the bow, and opening the front cover shows the lovely white enamel dial that is still in superb condition and also has the sub-seconds at the bottom.
This is a lovely pin set pocket watch meaning that the movement is wound by turning the crown, and the time is set by pressing the discreet button to the right hand side of the bow, just above the 3 and 4 o’clock position, then turning the crown to set the pocket watch to the correct time. Inside the movement has been serviced and comes with our twelve month warranty, and not only has this been serviced by us, but with a full state of the art watchmaking and polishing workshop on site, along with a watchmaker, we are able to service and repair your wrist or pocket watch.
This is a lovely antique pocket watch that is in wonderful condition and both looks and feels so good to hold in the palm of your hand.
