Antique seal from the Georgian era

$1,450.00

Seals have been used since Roman times and was an ingenious way to literally seal an envelope with wax and then have the seal with often a family crest carved into the base, pressed into the still warm wax leaving an impression, that once the envelope was opened would break the seal and was used to prevent it being opened by anyone else, and here is a wonderful antique seal that dates from the Georgian era and would not only look so good on a desk, but would also make a wonderful and very unique pendant.

Made in sterling silver in the 1820’s, the base of the seal measures 19.5mm by 21.6mm and measures 28.3mm tall, and would look so beautiful on a necklace as a pendant.

This seal is not only a piece of history, but also a wonderful example of how an antique piece can be worn in a different way and will always be admired.
