This antique collar has such a wonderful solid heft to it that combined with the intricate details of the links, makes it a truly exceptional collar and one of the finest around.
Collars have been popular for centuries, originating as far back as Egyptian times, and this one made in sterling silver dates from the Victorian period of the 1880's, and sits so comfortably around the neck.
Measuring 50.5cm in length, at one end is a bolt ring which can be placed at the back of the neck, at the front on its own, or used to attach a locket or seal to.
The round links measure 18.1mm in diameter and those beautiful oval links each with so much detail measure 10.1mm wide. The detail is so beautiful and will have people admiring this collar from near or far.
It is incredible to think that this collar was made over 140 years ago, yet still looks as beautiful today as when it was made.
