However it is not just the setting that is captivating - the star of this ring is the gorgeous unheat treated Burmese sapphire.
As far back as the first century AD people discovered that if you put a sapphire or ruby into a fire it will improve its colour and clarity, and people have been heat treating sapphires and rubies for this reason ever since.
Heat treatment is accepted worldwide as a normal treatment and not deceiving in any way and is accepted as a standard treatment for
sapphires and rubies.
However it is of course to wonderful to have on your finger a certified unheat treated sapphire.
This ring is all wonderfully made in a traditional antique style complete with antique cut diamonds. Many rings today are cast made which looses the fine quality and craftsmanship, whereas this ring is all hand made to such an exacting standard.
The setting for the diamonds are all individually set with a traditional millgrain setting which is the fine crimping along the setting reminiscent of antique jewellery.
The setting at the top measures 12.3mm across by 12.9mm and sits so well on the finger. Surrounding the sapphire is are 16 old European cut diamonds with 3 more diamonds set on each side.
This Burmese sapphire is just gorgeous and measures 2.39 carats and the diamonds which add so much sparkle to the ring total 0.35 carats.
With the untreated sapphire being the star of the show and the use of wonderful old cut diamonds in the most magnificent antique style setting, all go to make this one of the finest sapphire and diamond rings around that will always be admired and loved to be worn all the time.
