Dating from the 1880's, comes this very elegant and refined Victorian era antique ruby and diamond butterfly brooch.
Made in 18ct yellow gold and sterling silver, this was a common combination at the time as white gold was not yet invented and platinum, although already discovered, was not used in jewellery until the early part of the 20th Century.
Set twenty six with rose cut diamonds that totals 0.27 carats and twelve larger rubies and two smaller rubies for the eyes, these rubies total 1.68 carats.
The combination of the rubies and diamonds gives this brooch a wonderful amount of sparkle combined with the beauty of the gemstones.
With the brooch measuring 39.3mm across by 27.2mm, this brooch will look and sit perfect on any outfit and is destined to always be loved and admired.
