Antique Whitby jet bracelet from the Victorian era

With its wonderful dense black colour, and smooth tactile feel, this antique Whitby jet bracelet will be perfect to wear for any occasion and always be admired.

Whitby jet jewellery such as this one was very popular in the late Victorian era of the 1890’s when this was also made, and thanks to the soft curve of each panel and the way it has been strung on an elastic cord, these two features allow it to wrap perfectly around the wrist making it so comfortable.

The largest oval section in the centre measures 29.4mm across by 36.3mm, with the other links graduating down in size from 23.6mm to 18.7mm.

This bracelet is so comfortable to wear all the time and will easily become your next "go to" bracelet to be worn with any outfit and occasion.

What is Whitby jet?

A brief history on Whitby jet:

Whitby Jet is a fossilized material of a tree called the Araucaria Tree also known as the Monkey Puzzle tree and is dense black in colour, which is where the term “Jet black” came from. Found since 10,000 BC in countries such as Poland, France, Spain and Germany, the best material has always come from the town of Whitby in England.
