18ct gold IWC watch calibre 8541 from 1963
IWC are synonymous with not only very elegant and stylish watches, but a company that also incorporates a superb movement and this vintage IWC from 1963 is certainly no exception and highlights this perfectly.
Made in 18 carat yellow gold, the case itself is so sleek and elegant and looks perfect with the black leather band giving it the right look to wear with a suit for work, or in the evening for that special dinner. With the dial being printed with the original and elegant “International Watch Company Schaffhausen” in that gorgeous font, it also has a centre sweep seconds hand and date window to finish the look. The case measures 34mm across plus the IWC crown, and sits so well on the wrist where it will no doubt always be admired.
Inside it is powered by the amazing automatic IWC calibre 8541 which is regarded as one of the best movements ever produced not only by IWC but any watchmaking company in the world. This IWC movement was designed by Albert Pellaton who was the technical director of IWC, and this automatic movement has an ingenious system that included the ability for the automatic rotor to wind the watch regardless of which direction the rotor was turning. Now completely serviced by our in-house watchmaker and running perfectly, it comes with our twelve month warranty.
This IWC exemplifies just why they have always been regarded as one of the finest watchmaking companies in the world, and why their watches are continually so sought after.

What is the IWC calibre 8541?
The superb IWC calibre 8541 which is regarded as one of the best movements ever produced not only by IWC but any watchmaking company in the world. This IWC movement was designed by Albert Pellaton who was the technical director of IWC. This automatic movement has an ingenious system that included the ability for the automatic rotor to wind the watch regardless of which direction the rotor was turning. Fitted with a micro-regulator to guarantee accuracy and this among various other features make this one of the most accurate and well regarded watch movements in any watch back then and even today more than 40 years later.
This movement is also seen inside the original IWC Yacht Club watches. The stainless steel Yacht Club was water resistant to 100m and 60m for the gold version, via a crown mechanism that automatically tightened the seals as water pressure increased.
Where can I service my IWC watch?
When we expanded and renovated our store in late 2022, we put in not only a full watchmaking and polishing workshop, but a watchmaker who used to work for LVMH and then Rolex. This allows us to be able to service your Zenith as well as other watch brands such as Rolex, Omega, Cartier and Patek Philippe to name a few.
