1920's diamond earrings

The Art Deco era of the 1920's to the 1940's has easily gone down in history as producing some of the most beautiful and elegant jewellery, and here are a pair of  diamond earrings that will take you back to the wonderful bygone era that was the Art Deco period.

Made in 18 carat white gold in the 1920's, the beautiful scalloped design highlights just why Art Deco jewellery has never gone out of fashion.

Each earring is set with one larger European cut diamond and two smaller ones, with the larger ones totalling 0.68 carats, and the four totalling 0.22 carats. The sparkle and charm of antique diamonds add that element of extra character and make these earrings even more special.

Measuring 17.5mm in length and fitted with butterfly fittings, these earrings are just spectacular and will no doubt always be admired each time that they are worn.

1920's diamond earrings hand made in 18 carat white gold. These Art Deco diamond drop earrings are set with beautiful antique European cut diamonds.

What are European cut diamonds?

During the mid 19th century, the old European cut came into focus, and was an attempt to change the old mine cut stones into a more perfect round cut. These stones can be considered as the first true round brilliant cut diamonds. The facets from the old miners were kept in their same position, but changed shape to a more round and evenly shaped stone.

The culets became smaller, as it was realised that light could leak out from this point in the stone. The development of the modern brilliant cut occurred in the early part of the 20thcentury with further modifications through the century. Diamond cutters apply the brilliant cut to other shapes, and this very exacting skill continues to enthrall craftsman and enthusiasts alike.
