Antique diamond and pearl pendant that can be worn as a brooch.

Dating from the 1880's comes this truly magnificent and regal antique diamond and pearl pendant that can also be worn as a brooch that is destined to not only always be admired but is sure to become a family heirloom.

Hand made in an incredible design in 18 carat yellow gold and sterling silver at the top as sterling silver was used to set diamonds before the 1900's and beyond, as it was known that the yellow from the gold could artificially tint the diamonds yellow, and white gold was not yet made until around 1910, and platinum, although discovered in 1735, was not used in jewellery until about the same time as white gold due to the constraints in being able to produce heat high enough to allow it.

Set with a 0.28 carat European cut diamond, there are also an additional seventy nine rose cut diamonds that come together to total 0.65 carats and add an incredible amount of sparkle to the pendant, making it sure to get the attention that it rightly deserves from near or far.

The design is so incredible and intricate and a real testament to the jewellers of this bygone era. With a lovely pearl set at the bottom, the pendant itself measures 41.9mm across by 53.7mm, making it the perfect size to stand out and be admired regardless if it is being worn as a brooch or a pendant.

Description

Antique diamond and pearl pendant that can be worn as a brooch.

This antique diamond and pearl pendant was hand made in 18 carat yellow gold and sterling silver. Set with a combination of rose cut diamonds and European cut diamonds, genuine antique cut diamonds are as popular and sought after today as ever before.

Silver was used to set diamonds before the 1900's and beyond, as it was known that the yellow from the gold could artificially tint the diamonds yellow and white gold was not yet made until around 1910, and platinum, although discovered in 1735, was not used in jewellery until about the same time as white gold due to the constraints in being able to produce heat high enough to allow it.
