Antique curb link night and day padlock bracelet made in the early 1900's

$2,900.00

Made in the early 1900's in 9 carat rose gold, this antique bracelet will always look and feel so elegant on the wrist, and with the colour of the rose gold having such a beautiful warm colour, there is no doubt that this bracelet will be perfect for any occasion and time of day.

Called a night and day bracelet as it was thought that the plain side could be worn during the day and the engraved side in the evening, this is more of an urban myth as the side with the engraved links really makes it look so special, and each link is stamped 9ct on the plain side.

Measuring 19cm from end to end, the links measure 11.5mm wide and is fitted with a safety chain connecting to a beautiful hand engraved heart shaped padlock.

As beautiful and special today as when it was made over a century ago, this bracelet is perfect for any woman and any occasion.

Description

Antique curb link night and day padlock bracelet made in the early 1900's

The term "night and day" refers to the bracelet having an engraved side and a plain side. While it is common to wear and show the engraved side facing the front, either way can be worn.

What is rose gold?

Gold is alloyed with other metals to both harden and sometimes alter the colour of the gold. Whereas pure gold is very bright yellow in colour, it is also quite soft and malleable. This makes it unsuitable for jewellery as it will often break or split. Other metals are added such as copper and silver to make it harder. not only will this make the gold jewellery more durable, it will also alter the colour. The yellow colour may "soften" in its tone, or adding copper can make it more of a warm rose colour.
