Antique five stone diamond engagement ring from the Art Deco era

Here is a stunning diamond engagement ring that was so beautifully made with such fine detail, and is set with five equally as beautiful antique cut diamonds, making this a truly exceptional ring to be loved and cherished.

Hand made in the Art Deco period of the 1920's in 18 carat yellow gold and platinum, the detail alone on the platinum claws are amazing and highlights the quality of hand made jewellery, as well as jewellery from this fabulous era.

Set with five antique mine diamonds, the centre one measures 0.80 carats, and the other four total 0.96 carats and all have the charm and character of being cut by hand all those years ago, as well as of course being conflict-free diamonds.

Measuring 6.2mm wide at the centre by 23.3mm across, this is such an elegant ring that will always be admired.

Description

Antique five stone diamond engagement ring from the Art Deco era

This antique five stone diamond engagement ring from the Art Deco era was hand made in 18 carat yellow gold and platinum in the 1920's.

What is a mine cut diamond?

At the start of the 18th century, a great leap forward emerged with the “invention” of the new 58-facetted diamond. At the time, these were the closest resemblance to today’s brilliant cut, and are referred to as old mine cuts, or old miners. These were cut often squarish or cushion shaped, with quite a steep angle on the crown and pavilion, to maximise weight retention. As well as these features, the “old miners” often had quite a large culet or collet, the horizontal base formed by the blunting of a point when the stone is cut as a brilliant.
