Antique moonstone necklace from the early 1900's

Moonstone is a very unique gemstone and is often a milky white colour with a soft blue tone running through it, as well as having a wonderful visual phenomenon called adularescence, which is best described as a glow from below the surface, giving the impression of moonlight floating on water- hence its name. Whereas today much of the moonstone on the market has many inclusions, quite often the antique pieces are just amazing to admire from near or far such as in this very elegant antique moonstone necklace.

Dating from the early 1900's, the necklace was made in 9 carat gold and is set with the largest oval one in the centre measuring 25.2mm by 13.3mm, with the other six pieces graduating smaller in size. The way this necklace sits on the neck really showcase each of the pieces and looks so elegant day or night.

Measuring 43cm when laid out from end to end, this is truly such a wonderful and unique necklace that will always be loved, cherished and admired.
