Australian opals are regarded as the finest in the world, and here is a lovely antique ring made in the early 1900's set with five beautiful Australian white opals.
Hand made in 18 carat yellow gold, the five solid opals are so well matched in colour, and all display wonderful flashes from blue to green and the most desired colour in opals, red.
With such an elegant setting, this ring will so easily suit any finger and with a smooth band to complete the picture, this is a wonderful example of just how elegant jewellery from the Edwardian era is of which this ring was made.
Measuring 6.2mm wide at the centre by 18mm across, this is a wonderful example of an early opal ring that is as elegant as it is beautiful.

Antique solid opal ring made in 18 carat gold
This antique solid opal ring was made in the early 1900's and is set with five solid white opals.
Where are the best opals in the world found?
Australia. Australian opals are regarded as the best in the world thanks to the colour and durability. Whereas many Ethiopian opals will often crack after just a few years, Australian opals are much more stable.
From the most famous solid black opals of Lightning Ridge, to the gorgeous white opals from Coober Pedy and mesmerising boulder opals, there truly is no other gemstone like an opal.
