Art Nouveau solid opal and natural pearl necklace made in the 1890’s

$14,500.00

Here is a truly amazing antique necklace that was made during the Art Nouveau era in the late 1800’s and has so many exciting and unique features to it that highlight why there is nothing quite like genuine antique jewellery.

Made in 18 carat yellow gold, the design is so elegant especially around the opal and even the detail on the cap holding the suspended pearl at the bottom is exquisite to admire.

In the centre is a lovely solid white Australian opal that measures 2.05 carats. With a lovely soft blue-green colour to it that compliments the pearls perfectly, it also highlights the gorgeous setting that surrounds it.

And then on the chain leading to it there are three natural pearls on each side as well as three more around the opal then the amazing and large one at the bottom.

Today pearls are produced by being cultured, and while these pearls are still considered to be real pearls, these ones have formed naturally as nature intended without being cultured like today and this is made even more amazing by the fact that it is estimated that a natural pearl is produced in between 1 in 5,000 to 1 in 10,000 oysters.

The largest one measures 17.1mm by 9.5mm and like all the others has been x-rayed to confirm this making this such an exciting piece. Laid out from end to end the necklace measures 39cm and from the first pearl at one end across to the other, this distance measures 9.2cm and this necklace not only sits perfectly around the neck, but looks absolutely incredible – this is truly such an exciting and beautiful necklace to have around your neck.

Over 120 years old and still as beautiful and elegant as when it was made, this is truly an exceptional piece like no other.
