Gold and platinum Art Deco diamond earrings from the 1920's

These diamond earrings are simply gorgeous and will no doubt always be loved and admired from near or far.

Hand made in the Art Deco period of the 1920's in 18 carat yellow gold and platinum, the way the diamonds are set even at the bottom are so attractive and show the attention to detail that is found with jewellery from this wonderful era.

There are eleven mine cut diamonds in each earring, with the centre diamond being held somewhat aloft of the cluster adding to the charm and character of the earrings.

Surrounded by eight more diamonds, there are two more leading to the top, and the total diamond weight is 0.84 carats, with all the diamonds giving off such a wonderful sparkle.

The cluster section measures 9.7mm in diameter, and from the bottom of the cluster to the top of the earrings, this distance measures 26.4mm.

Fitted on very secure lever back fittings, these earrings will look so beautiful during the day and so incredibly elegant during the night.

Description

Art Deco diamond cluster earrings. Hand made gold and platinum Art Deco diamond earrings from the 1920's

These Art Deco diamond cluster earrings were made in the Art Deco period of the 1920's. Each earring is set with eleven genuine antique mine cut diamonds. Mine cut diamonds are also affectionately called "cushion cut" diamonds thanks to their somewhat squarish "cushion" shape.

What is a mine cut diamond?

At the start of the 18th century, a great leap forward emerged with the “invention” of the new 58-facetted diamond. At the time, these were the closest resemblance to today’s brilliant cut, and are referred to as old mine cuts, or old miners. These were cut often squarish or cushion shaped, with quite a steep angle on the crown and pavilion, to maximise weight retention. As well as these features, the “old miners” often had quite a large culet or collet, the horizontal base formed by the blunting of a point when the stone is cut as a brilliant.

Are antique diamonds ethical?

Yes! Antique diamonds don't suffer from being blood diamonds, nor do they harm the environment as they were all mined over a century ago. Buying antique jewellery is the best way to help the environment when buying jewellery.
