Platinum Art Deco diamond and pearl necklace and chain in its original box

Here is a diamond and pearl pendant that exemplifies the elegance and charm of the 1920's Art Deco era, and highlights why jewellery of this era is as fashionable today as when it was made.

Made in platinum, the pendant section measures 18mm by 43mm to the top of the bail, where the original platinum chain passes through, and highlights the beauty of platinum by having such fine work that can only be achieved by being made in platinum. While white gold and silver can be drawn into a fine wire, both materials can't be drawn as fine as platinum as can be seen here in the pendant. This allows that gorgeous work to be achieved that is so fine and elegant. Designed with a charming cluster suspended in the centre, at the top of the cluster is a mine cut diamond leading to an early round brilliant cut diamond surrounded by rose cut diamonds. With more rose cut diamonds set on each side and in the bail at the top, the diamonds come together to total 0.38 carats and capture the light perfectly.

The platinum chain is not only set with natural pearls, but has the ability to be worn longer or shorter depending on the outfit that it is being worn with. At its shorter length, it measures 40.5cm and is set with nine natural pearls, and by simply connecting the extra 11.5cm section that is set with a further two natural pearls, this brings the entire length to 52cm.

This piece was made by the English jewellery company Jay who later became Jay, Richard Attenbborough & Co Ltd and comes with its original velvet lined box which in itself is wonderful to admire. Not only able to hold the necklace and pendant, but at the back of the board used to support the pendant, it has a feature to allow it to sit up and show of the pendant beautifully.

This is such an exciting pendant and chain that is sure to become a much treasured and admired family heirloom.
