Rose gold antique night and day bracelet

$2,800.00

This bracelet dates from the Edwardian period of the early 1900's in 9 carat rose gold, not only does the gold have that beautiful tone to it that looks even more beautiful when on the wrist, but the link design is what is referred to as a "night and day" design that is complimented by the most beautiful engraved padlock.

The term "night and day" refers to being able to wear it with the plain side up during the day, then reverse it for the night. However due to the lovely engraved design, these are most commonly worn with the engraved side showing all the time for all to admire.

Each link measures 9.8mm wide and the bracelet measures a 20.5cm in length and is fitted with that gorgeous engraved heart shaped padlock that is also fitted with a safety chain for added security.

This is one bracelet that even after a century has gone by, it is still as fashionable and beautiful as ever.

Description

Rose gold antique night and day bracelet

Rose gold antique night and day bracelet made in the early 1900's.

What is a night and day bracelet?

The night and day curb link bracelet was thought to have originated to wear the plain side during the day and the engraved side during the night. While this does have merit, it is more realistic that this was a design feature that was named so after its inception. Antique night and day bracelets were often made in rose gold. Rose gold is made by the addition of copper to the alloy, resulting in a lovely warm colour. In recent years rose gold has surged in popularity, and there is nothing quite the look of antique rose gold on your wrist.

What is rose gold?

Gold is alloyed with other metals to both harden and sometimes alter the colour of the gold. Whereas pure gold is very bright yellow in colour, it is also quite soft and malleable. This makes it unsuitable for jewellery as it will often break or split. Other metals are added such as copper and silver to make it harder. not only will this make the gold jewellery more durable, it will also alter the colour. The yellow colour may "soften" in its tone, or adding copper can make it more of a warm rose colour.
