A brief history on the Cartier Pasha:
The Cartier Pasha was named after the Sultan, or Pasha, of Marrakech, who commissioned Louis Cartier to create both a a luxurious watch that he could wear for his royal duties, but also a durable watch that could then be worn in the swimming pool. The Cartier Pasha was designed with its ingenious screw down crown cap attached to a small chain, and is therefore regarded as Cartier's first waterproof watch.
In 1943 it was released in the boutiques as one of their standard collections, and this was a design that went through both periods of popularity as well as being less desirable over the years. Redesigned in 1985 by the famous Gerald Genta who also designed Patek Philippe's Nautilus as well as Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, he re-created it to develop the feminine Miss Pasha series.
The Pasha is easily identifiable for not only having the screw cap on the side protecting the crown, but the dial having a rather unique design in which the round case and dial is offset by a square minute track.
