Watch & Timepiece Waranty

Congratulations on your purchase. We take great pride in our watches and hope it will give you many years of pleasure. Your watch is guaranteed for 24 months.

What must I do to protect my watch:

Shocks: Protect your watch from unnecessary force, knocks, falls / drops, using hand tools, hammers, chisels.
Temperature: Do not expose your watch to extreme heat (over 55 °C) or cold (less than 0 °C) or extreme temperature fluctuations.
Magnetic fields: Due to the magnetic fields produced by phones and computers, do not place your watch on or very close to these items; parts may become magnetised and cause the watch to run irregularly; it can be de-magnetised.
Water / Moisture: Both salt and freshwater will damage leather bands. Do not immerse watches with leather bands in water. Unless we have pressure tested the watch – and specified this on your purchase receipt- and your watch has both a screw down crown and a screw back, due not take your watch in water. Unless specified, your watch is not covered for water damage to the movement, dial and band. Water resistance cannot be permanently guaranteed and it is recommended to have the watch pressure tested every twelve months.

Automatic wind : If the watch has not been worn for some days, we recommend hand winding 20 times before wearing, to put some power in the mainspring, as the watch may stop due to lack of arm movement.
Date: If your watch has a date function, do not change the date between the hours of 10pm and 2am. If the time is between here, wind the hands forward past 2am then change the date.
Regular service/maintenance: It is recommended to have your watch serviced every 3 years. Our qualified watchmakers would be more than happy to assist you with any repair or service needs.
What is not covered by us:

1. Spontaneous mainspring breakage. Mainsprings break from many causes, all beyond the control of the wearer or the watchmaker;
2. Water or moisture damage to non-water resistant watches, or those with a screw crown left out;
3. Broken, scratched or crazed watch glass or plexi or crystal of any sort ;
4. Any signs of tampering with the watch, both inside or out;
5. Leather watch straps including watch pins;
6. Batteries – after 12 months of date of purchase;
7. Damage from improper handling, accidents or normal wear and tear, including but not limited to
case damage such as scratches to the case;
8. Magnetic Fields

How much does your watch restoration in Sydney cost?

Watch restoration cost is going to depend on several key factors. Antique watch restoration could be relatively straightforward and require our watchmaker to disassemble the watch, clean and service the mechanical components, and then reassemble the piece. When we repair old watches, we often find heavily worn parts that need replacing, which obviously takes more time and resources and affects the cost. For an accurate quote on what vintage watch repair and restoration will cost for your piece, give a team member at Kalmar Antiques a call, and we'll be able to learn more about your specific watch and what it may require.
