15 carat antique curb link bracelet made by Duggin, Shappere and Co

Here is not only a very elegant antique curb link bracelet, but one that is so much more special than most others out there.

To begin with it was made in 15 carat gold whereas most curb link bracelets were made in 9 carat gold. 15 carat gold has a lovely warm tone to it, and was used in Australia and England making it harder to come by than 9 or 18 carat gold pieces.

Made by one of Australia's most prolific jeweller, Duggin, Shappere and Co. This esteemed jewellery company became well known for their high quality jewellery from the late 19th to early 20 centuries.

Then there is the condition of the bracelet itself. It is in truly exceptional condition with no wear to any of the links. The links measure 9.2mm wide and are not only in superb condition, but also each are individually stamped with Duggin, Shappere & Co's stamp of an anchor on one of the end links along with the Australian stamp for 15 carat gold, being the "15" as well as the sheep.

And to complete with entire package, the heart shaped padlock is also stamped with their makers mark as well as gold carat stamps.

Measuring 19.8cm in length and fitted with a safety chain, on or off the wrist, this is a fabulous antique bracelet that it so beautiful for so many reasons and a real treasure to find.

A brief history on Duggin, Shappere & Co

Duggin Shappere and Co were one of Australia’s most prolific and famous jewellery firms starting in Melbourne in 1896. Founded by H Duggin and P Shappere became well known for Australian themed jewellery as well as other high end pieces set with diamonds and opals among other precious gemstones. The Great Depression took a toll on this prestigious Australian company, and they closed their doors in 1929, however in their brief time, they produced highly collectable jewellery that is so sought after today. Their jewellery was marked with an anchor symbol.
