1958 Omega Seamaster 2846

When the Omega Seamaster was first released in 1948, it became an instant hit and has remained an iconic model from Omega ever since, and here is a fantastic example dating from 1958 that will amaze you for not only its classic look and reliability, but condition as well.

Fitted in a gold capped case that measures 34mm across plus the Omega crown, this watch actually looks so much larger on the wrist and the gold capping on the case is still in superb condition as is the Omega Seamaster logo on the back which is often worn. With the back logo being in such crisp condition, it shows just how little wear it has had in its 60 plus years.

The dial is all original and so lovely and clean and looks even more elegant with the centre sweep seconds and gorgeous hour indicators, making this watch perfect to wear during the day, as well as for an important dinner function, and always look so good.

Inside the 19 jewelled Omega calibre 501 has just been serviced by our Omega certified watchmaker and comes with our twenty four month warranty. Along with our Omega and other brands of watches, we are also able to service your watch as well, all in-house, so please bring your watch or pocket watch in for a free quote.

This watch is truly as beautiful as they come, and is the epitome of a vintage Omega, and once that is in exceptional condition.

When we expanded and renovated our store in late 2022, we put in not only a full watchmaking and polishing workshop, but two watchmakers. Our head watchmaker, Lorenzo Del Rosso, used to used to work for Tag Heuer, LVMH and then Rolex, before coming to Kalmar Antiques. We also now an authorised OMEGA watch service centre. This allows us to be able to service your Omega watch to full Omega specifications all on-site.

Along with Omega watches, we can service other watches such as Rolex, Longines, Breitling, Cartier and Patek Philippe to name a few.

What is the Omega Seamaster?

A brief history of the Omega Seamaster:

First released in 1948 which was also Omega's 100th Anniversary, the Omega Seamaster was designed to be a robust watch while still being very elegant making it one of the world's first watches that could be worn with a suit and tie as well as a wet suit in an age where blue collar watches and white collar watches never overlapped.

The Omega Seamaster was in fact born as a result of World War II where the British were after a watch with superior reliability and water resistance with very high precision.

After the war the Omega Seamaster became known as the watch to have on your wrist and one that would never let you down. This is a testament to the classic vintage Omega Seamaster watches that we have on offer.

How often should I service my Omega?

As per official OMEGA guidelines, the service frequency depends on the use of the watch and the environment in which it is worn. The water resistance can, for example, be affected by the aging of the gaskets or by an accidental shock. Therefore, we recommend that you have the water resistance checked once a year and a complete service performed every 5 to 8 years.

Kalmar Antiques are now an authorised OMEGA watch service centre, based in the heart of Sydney in the Queen Victoria Building.

Should I take my watch to an authorised OMEGA service centre?

Taking your watch to an authorised OMEGA watch service centre such as Kalmar Antiques, will ensure that not only is your watch serviced to the highest standards, but only genuine Omega parts are used. This will also allow the watch to be covered by a two year warranty.
