Antique carnelian 18 carat gold signet ring made in 1891
This antique signet ring was made over 130 years ago, yet is still as fashionable as ever as well as being in excellent condition and looks and feels superb to wear.
Made in 18 carat yellow gold in London in 1891, in the centre sits a shield shaped piece of carnelian which has a lovely brown-red colour to it that is complimented so well by the yellow gold.

Signet rings go as far back to ancient Egypt over 4,000 years ago, and use of the term signet or seal, is from the Latin sigillum (seal), diminutive of signum (sign) and dates back at least to the second half of the thirteenth century. This antique signet ring is set hand engraved on the sides.
