Antique cufflinks made in 1899

Without a doubt cufflinks finish a suit, and when they are as exquisitely hand engraved as these ones here, there is no doubt that they will always be admired for their style and elegance.

Made in sterling silver in Birmingham in 1899, each cufflink measures 16.8mm by 11.2mm, and being double sided, will secure together any French cuff completing the elegant look that will always be admired.

Not only is the engraving so beautiful to admire, but made more incredible is the fact that it was all hand engraved over a century ago. Hand engraving is so much more superior that engraving with a drill or even just being stamped out, and this shows just how much time and attention went into making these cufflinks.

These cufflinks are just superb, and shows just how practical antique jewellery is today as when it was made all those years ago.

Description

Antique cufflinks made in 1899

Antique cufflinks made in 1899 and beautifully hand engraved. These cufflinks were made towards the end of the Victorian era.

When was the Victorian era?

The Victorian era was from 1837 until 1901. Queen Victoria was incredibly influential on the styles of fashion and jewellery during her reign. Prince Albert gave Queen Victoria an engagement ring in the form of a serpent or snake. This was  set ruby eyes, diamonds and a large emerald being her birthstone. After Prince Albert died in 1861, Queen Victoria only wore black, making not only this "fashionable" but also wearing mourning jewellery.
