Exceptional antique diamond engagement ring

$38,500.00

Not only are the diamonds so beautiful, but the scroll work and attention to detail in this ring is so beautiful and made all the more incredible that all of this was done by hand over 130 years ago.

Exquisitely hand made in 18 carat yellow gold in the late Victorian era of the 1890’s, this ring is not just about the five main European cut diamonds, but also the smaller rose cut diamonds as well as the scroll work on the side.

The five larger diamonds total an impressive 2.62 carats and sparkle magnificently, and have all the charm and character of diamonds of a bygone era. Then sitting between each of the larger diamonds, there are two rose cut diamonds that add to the sparkle that scintillate just perfectly in the light.

Then there is the ring from the side. The scroll work detail in this ring is truly breathtaking and will have you admiring it from the side just as much from the top. The attention to detail is just incredible, and the amount of time needed to create the detail in this ring would have no doubt been not just immense, but done by a true master jeweller. And then there is a very unique and not often found feature showing just how skilled the jeweller was to make this ring. From under the ring, each of the five settings have been lined with sterling silver. The reason silver was used was to prevent the yellow of the gold going into the diamonds and artificially tinting them yellow, and although platinum had been discovered at this time, it was not yet used in jewellery until the advent of the oxyacetylene torch which was to come later, and white gold would not be invented until the early 20th Century.

Sitting perfectly across the finger, this is truly an exception ring of exceptional quality.
