Antique knot design ring

The knot design goes back for centuries and represents a love and unbreakable bond between two people, and here is a beautiful antique knot design ring set with a single cut diamond in the centre.

Made in 18 carat yellow gold in London in 1908, not only does this ring incorporate a romantic know design, but part of the design is in a high polish finish, with the other having a lovely textured, stippled effect.

This is a ring that sits so well on the finger and will so easily suit being worn on any finger. Measuring 10.1mm wide at the centre, this is a wonderful example of an antique ring that not only looks so beautiful, but has a wonderful and romantic connotation attached to it.

Description

Antique knot design ring

Antique knot design ring set with a single cut diamond and made in 1908.

What is a single cut diamonds?

These are small diamonds usually around 0.01 carats to 0.05 carats in size. They are often found on the shoulders of rings or surrounding a centre stone for example. While today modern technology will allow for a 0.01 carat diamond to have 58 facets and be a round brilliant cut diamond, single cut diamonds were used from the later part of the 19th Century up until around the 1930's-1940's. Commonly found with eight facets on the top (the crown) and eight facets on the bottom (the pavilion) these are sometimes found with total facets between 16 to 18.
