Here is an absolutely stunning antique opal and diamond pendant that converts to a brooch so easily giving it so much versatility.
Beautifully hand made in the late Victorian era of the 1890's in 15ct gold, the pendant is set with a total of ninety nine diamonds in the most beautiful design. It is not simply a matter of having diamonds surrounding the opal, rather it is also about the design itself. Designed with two bows and a floral theme, the diamonds truly highlight the opal perfectly. Coming together, the diamonds total 3.10 carats and sparkle magnificently day or night.
Australian opals are regarded as the finest in the world, and here this pendant is set with a magnificent 3.10 carat solid opal. The spectral colours coming from this opal are just wonderful and really captures the light so well.
It really showcases why there is no other gemstone like an opal and the way it has been set to sway independently on its own shows the quality of craftsmanship that went into making this piece over 120 years ago. And then turning the pendant over reveals a brooch clasp and the necklace connected to two hooks that makes it easy to remove the chain when wearing as a brooch. This versatility gives it an extra way to wear it and is so easy to change from a pendant to a brooch and back again.
The pendant itself measures 35.5mm across by 43.3mm and laid out from end to end this distance of the chain measures 54cm.
No matter how this is worn whether it be a brooch or a pendant, there is no doubt that it will always be loved and admired.
