Antique opal brooch by Perryman
$2,550.00
What a magnificent opal set into such a wonderful design and made by a highly well respected early Australian jeweller of the 19th and 20th Centuries.
Dating from the early 1900’s, this gorgeous brooch was made in 15 carat gold by Perryman who traded from 1855 for nearly 100 years, and was a company that made a name for themselves as one of Australia’s finest jewellers which is evident in this brooch.
Measuring 5.5cm across, the opal measures 3.30 carats and is wonderfully set on an angle that compliments the double bar design that are each off centre to themselves, and of course is highlighted by the floral design on each side as well as the scroll work on each end.
And then to make this brooch even more special, this exact one is featured on page 108 of the “Australian Jewellers: Gold & Silversmiths, Makers & Marks, by Kenneth Cavill, Graham Cocks, and Jack Grace”, that makes this brooch even more wonderful and exciting.
This is such a fabulous brooch that is a wonderful example of just how beautiful our early Australian jewellery truly is.
