Art Deco engagement ring with an unheat treated sapphire

The Art Deco era of the 1920's to the 1940's gave the world some truly fabulous designs in jewellery, and this ring is certainly no exception and gets even more exciting the more you look at it.

Hand made in 18 carat white gold and platinum, the design of this ring will suit any finger, as well as making a fabulous engagement ring.

Sitting proud in the centre is a fabulous sapphire that measures 3.75 carats and displays such a fine blue with excellent transparency to see throughout the stone. Making this sapphire even more special is that it is unheated meaning that it was this fantastic colour when it came out of the ground.

While there is nothing at all wrong with sapphires that have been heat treated, for centuries it has been known that if a sapphire is heated to a high temperature, this will improve its colour and clarity, and people have been heat treating sapphires and rubies ever since for this reason. Keep in mind that this treatment is worldwide accepted as a normal treatment and not deceiving in any way and is accepted as a standard treatment for sapphires and rubies as it remains stable and does not damage the stone, however there is something quite special to have a sapphire adorning your finger that has not undergone any treatment such as this one here.

Not only is it claw set, but each claw is a double claw that adds to the charm and elegance of the ring, as do the three diamonds on each side that step down to a further diamond leading to the band. These diamonds total 0.20 carats, and highlight not just the sapphire, but the design of the ring as well.

Then from the side you can see the exquisite detail that went into making this ring by hand all those years ago, and shows the skill and quality that can only be achieved by making by hand.

From every angle this is a breathtaking ring, and the sapphire in the centre is a real show-stopper making this such a fabulous ring to be loved and treasured forever.
